Ribbons and her baby Beau

About Ribbons and her baby Beau

When we found Ribbons and her baby, Beau, at a Pennsylvania auction, they looked like they had come from a loving home. Their halters were decorated with bright ribbons—an attempt to make buyers believe they were well cared for, not cast-offs from a trader. Unfortunately, this is a common trick used to fetch a higher price.

But we saw through it.

We knew these donkeys needed a safe future, not an uncertain fate. So we brought them home—unaware that we weren’t just saving two lives, but three.

A Surprise in the Making

Little did we know, Ribbons was pregnant. And when the time came, her baby made quite the entrance.

From the moment he started coming into the world, he was full of spit and vinegar—literally twitching his head impatiently before he was even fully born! He couldn’t wait to stand, to explore, to make his mark. That’s how he earned his name: Twitch.

Now, at just one month old, he’s still a firecracker—full of energy, mischief, and curiosity.

Why This Rescue Matters

Ribbons, Beau, and Twitch are safe today because someone stepped in before it was too late. Too many donkeys at auctions don’t get that chance. They are bought and sold like objects, their fate often sealed by traders who see them as nothing more than profit.

At Turning Pointe Donkey Rescue, we believe every donkey deserves a life of love, safety, and dignity. Stories like Twitch’s remind us why we do this work—and why we need your help to keep going.

🐴 Donate today to help us rescue more donkeys in need. Every dollar goes toward food, vet care, and ensuring they never have to face auction pens again.
